The third prize of the urban and landscape planning competition Marienburger Strasse in Munich has been awarded to our team including Cityförster and Felixx Landscape Architects & Planners.
The design competition, to which 12 participants were invited, consisted of a realisation part with circa 43,000 m2 GFA and an idea part with circa 10,000 m2 GFA and had as aim to integrate and connect the high-density future urban fabric east of the railway line with the existing low-density urban context and ecological environment on the west.
Our proposal establishes a context-sensitive connection to these two different spatial and morphological conditions while simultaneously creating its own strong local identity. We have developed a vision which seamlessly combines three different landscapes and four urban building typologies. The facades and generous outdoor spaces shape different public outdoor areas creating green chambers and highlighting the sense of living together and caring for the communal ecological and social environment.
